Monday, April 22, 2013 | 8:37 p.m. CDT

Former Missouri women's basketball associate head coach Randy Norton has accepted a position as head coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the team announced Monday.

Norton had been on Missouri coach Robin Pingeton's staff for the past 10 seasons, including seven at Illinois State and three at Missouri.

"This is a great opportunity for Randy to pursue a life-long dream, and we are very excited for him," Pingeton said in a statement. "He has been a big part of my staff and our basketball family for the last ten years, and we will miss him. UAB is very fortunate to have him, and I have no doubt that he will be very successful."
