COLUMBIA — Columbia College softball players freshman Amber Boehme and junior Marli Hayes claimed the last two American Midwest Conference softball awards of the regular season.
Boehme, earning AMC Pitcher of the Week, earned three conference wins for the Cougars last week, defeating Stephens College, Missouri Baptist and Park. She pitched 18 2/3 innings for the week.
In the game against Stephens, Boehme threw a career-high 10 strikeouts for a six-inning, one-hit shutout. She struck out four in the Missouri Baptist game, allowing just five hits in the five-inning game. She threw for 6 1/3 innings against No. 21 Park to help secure the Cougars' 8-6 victory.
Hayes, earning AMC Player of the Week, hit .579 for the week with a 1.263 slugging average. She went 11-for-19 at the plate and scored nine runs for the week.
Hayes, a third baseman, hit one double and four home runs in the week, driving in nine runs in six games. In the game against Stephens, she went 3-for-4 with three home runs and five RBIs. She has a .362 batting average for the season and is tied for most home runs for the Cougars.
