Betty “Jean” Dierker, May 22, 1926 – April 22, 2013, of Harrisburg

Betty “Jean” Dierker passed away on April 22, 2013, at her home in Harrisburg, MO, at the age of 86.

Jean was born May 22, 1926, in Chicago, IL, to Willard and Helen Trower.

She married William W. Dierker on August 22, 1948; he preceded her in death on April 8, 2013.

Jean graduated from Stephens College in Columbia with a degree in Child Development. She helped establish Immanuel Baptist Day Care Center in Hannibal, MO, in 1972. Jean and her husband moved to Columbia in 1975, where she worked for Community Nursery School until she retired.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Janes (Husband Bud), of Hannibal, MO, and a son Mike Dierker (Wife Susan) of Harrisburg, four grandchildren, Julie Leach (Husband Patrick), of Kansas City, KS, Justin Janes (Wife Kelly), of Hannibal, MO, Shaun Dierker, of Columbia, MO, Erin Dierker of Troy, NY, and two great grandchildren, Kiersten Leach and William Leach, of Kansas City, KS.

Jean loved her family, her country home, and the mountains.

As she requested, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made  to William Dierker Nature Trail at Hannibal-LaGrange University 2800 Palmyra Road, Hannibal, Missouri 63401, or the Immanuel Baptist Day Care Center, 3600 McMasters Ave, Hannibal, Missouri.
