COLUMBIA — A Transportation Security Administration employee at Columbia Regional Airport was arrested Thursday after passengers complained about missing items from their luggage.

After passengers told TSA and Homeland Security officials about the items, surveillance video confirmed the suspect's identity, said Steven Sapp, a spokesman for the Columbia Public Works Department.

A TSA spokesperson said the employee failed one of the regular tests for agency standards by not returning a wallet with cash.

“TSA does not tolerate criminal conduct and this individual has been terminated," TSA spokesperson Carrie Harmon said in an email.
