COLUMBIA — Desiree White died April 22, 2013, from a sudden illness.

A celebration of her life will be held in the near future.

Desiree was born to Linda and Rex White in Joplin. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Columbia College, and had completed all coursework for a Master’s degree in Library Science from UMC.

A passionate woman, Desiree had many interests and loved many things, but especially her family and friends, her cat, and music. Intelligent, creative and fun, she always had a way of bringing laughter and sweetness to every day and remembering and celebrating her family and friends in special ways.

Desiree is survived by her mother and stepfather Linda and David Karns, her sister and brother-in-law Anita and Eric Happ, her nieces Danielle Vaughn and Erin Happ, uncles Jan (John) and Tyson Fredricks, aunts Irene Karnes and Kay Wood, her close friends Colleen Rodgers and Mary Howze, many cousins and friends and her beloved cat Maybelline.

Desiree was preceded in death by her father, her aunt Beth Hankins, and her beloved grandmother Natalie Fredricks and Lena Karns.

In her memory, reach out to someone, plant a flower, do something creative you’ve wanted to do, read a book, hold a loved one, or just cherish a memory. She would have loved that.

Rock on, Desiree. We love you forever.
