The game took nine innings, but the No. 11 Missouri Tigers softball team defeated the No. 19 Kentucky Wildcats 2-1 on Friday behind Nicole Hudson’s 13th home run of the season.
Hudson also tied the game at one with an RBI single in the top of the seventh.
Kentucky took a 1-0 lead in the second inning against pitcher Chelsea Thomas.
That was all Thomas gave up, though. Thomas pitched a complete game, and she struck out seven batters while giving up five hits. She improved her record to 18-4 on the season.
No. 11 Missouri improved to 28-8 overall and 12-6 in Southeastern Conference play. The Tigers play Kentucky again at noon Saturday before finishing the three-game series at noon Sunday.
