COLUMBIA — This weekend, Morgan Bumby led by example.

The senior captain scored a pair of winning goals for Rock Bridge High School and the Bruins took third place in the Hickman Tournament.

The Bruins were defeated by Nixa 2-1 in penalty kicks in the first round Friday night at Rock Bridge. Rock Bridge followed that performance with a 2-1 victory against Troy Buchanan on Saturday morning at Hickman.

Junior forward Haleigh Fancher's goal in the 53rd minute gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead, but the Trojans scored the equalizer in the 73rd minute before Bumby scored the game-winner.

Two hours later, Bumby's goal in the 56th minute gave Rock Bridge a 1-0 victory over rival Hickman to earn third place in the tournament.

Rock Bridge (6-9) plays Monday night at home against Smith-Cotton.
