LEXINGTON, Ky. — In the top of the first inning Sunday against Kentucky, Missouri batters went down in order, striking out three times. The Tiger bats wouldn't remain quiet for long.
Missouri scored six runs in the second inning, with RBIs from Corrin Genovese, Jenna Marston and Angela Randazzo. Those three led the Missouri offense with two hits each. Mackenzie Sykes added another run for the Tigers with a two-out double in the sixth to score Princess Krebs.
In the circle, Missouri ace Chelsea Thomas (19-4) had a strong outing, allowing just three hits and two walks in the Tigers' 7-0 victory over the Wildcats. In her 10th appearance of the season, Lindsey Muller relieved Thomas for a perfect seventh inning.
With victories in Game 1 on Friday and and Game 3 on Sunday, Missouri (29-9, 13-7 SEC) won the series against Kentucky (36-16, 11-10 SEC). This is the fourth conference series the Tigers have won this season, and they have just one left in the regular season.
After a doubleheader at Western Illinois on Wednesday, Missouri will host Tennessee on May 3 to 5 in the final series before Southeastern Conference Tournament play begins.
