Missouri lawmakers taking testimony on license records

JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri lawmakers are taking a multifaceted approach in voicing their opposition to the way state agencies have handled records related to driver's licenses and concealed gun permit cards

A federal Social Security fraud investigator is to testify Wednesday before the Senate Appropriations Committee about why he sought a list of Missouri's concealed gun permit holders derived from information collected by the Department of Revenue.

Separately, the Joint Committee of Administrative Rules is to hold a hearing on why the Revenue Department did not make a formal rule change before it started making electronic copies of applicant's personal documents such as concealed gun permits and birth certificates.

Also Wednesday, the Senate transportation committee is to hear testimony on a bill barring the Revenue Department from making electronic copies of those records.
