Thomas Hudson served in Army, retired as Columbia Police Department captain

COLUMBIA — Thomas Hudson served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-51. He then worked for the Columbia Police Department for 29 years and retired as captain.

Thomas A. Hudson of Columbia died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at University Hospital. He was 84.

He and his wife, Nancy Hudson, were married for 53 years.

Mr. Hudson is survived by his wife, Nancy; a son, Stephen Hudson, and his wife, Dawn,; two daughters, Stephanie Jackson, and her husband, David, and Kimberly Kemp, and her husband, Tommy; his brother, Harry Hudson, and his wife, Debbie; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hudson; four grandchildren, Heather Hudson, Heidi Hudson, Hayden Hudson and Shannon Chandler; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A son, Paul Hudson; two brothers; and one sister died earlier.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a place of the donor's choice.
