Missouri sweeps Western Illinois in doubleheader

The Missouri softball team scored 22 runs on 31 hits in a doubleheader Wednesday at Western Illinois.

Center fielder Jenna Marston led the Tiger offense, going 6-for-9 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Second baseman Emily Crane also helped the cause, hitting a 2-run home run in Game 1 as the Tigers beat the Leathernecks 10-5.

After not starting Game 1, right fielder Sarah Moore went 2-for-2 with four RBIs in Game 2. Shortstop Corrin Genovese had three RBIs in the Tigers' 12-4 6-inning Game 2 win.

Nicole Hudson and Lindsey Muller both took the circle for Missouri. Hudson (9-4) started and won both games, pitching 9 innings. Muller came in relief in both games, allowing four hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Missouri (31-9, 13-7 SEC) returns home for a weekend series against Tennessee (42-7, 15-4 SEC) beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.
