COLUMBIA — The Boone County Sheriff's Department made six arrests for driving while intoxicated and recovered a stolen vehicle at a sobriety checkpoint Saturday night and Sunday morning.

With the help of the Columbia Police Department, officers checked approximately 150 to 200 vehicles at the checkpoint in the 4300 block of Mexico Gravel Road in northeast Columbia.

Officers also recovered a stolen vehicle. An unknown driver abandoned the vehicle in a field after evading the checkpoint and fleeing on foot, according to a release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department. The driver was not arrested and has not been identified.
