Mary Margaret Sullivan enjoyed camping with her grandchildren, helping others

COLUMBIA — Mary Margaret Sullivan enjoyed camping with her grandchildren and helping others.

“She would do anything for anyone,” her daughter, Angie Sullivan, said. “She was a feisty little thing, but she was always the first one there if you needed help.”

Mary Margaret Sullivan of Columbia died Tuesday, May 7, 2013. She was 71.

She was born March 24, 1942, to Leslie and Margaret (Foxall) Robinson.

She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. When they were younger, she would take them camping at Long Branch State Park in Macon County, Sullivan said. 

“She would fish with them,” Sullivan said. “She also enjoyed going to their sporting events. She made sure to make it to all of them.”

Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her children, Chris Sullivan and his wife, Cassie, of Monroe City, Angie Sullivan of Columbia, Lisa Thornton and her husband, Kevin, of Sturgeon, and Denise* Barnes and her husband, Michael, of Jefferson City; a sister, Janice Mix, of Macomb, Ill.; her grandchildren, Nick Sullivan and his wife, Laila, Tiffany Boyd and her husband, Aaron, Claira Sullivan, Emily Sullivan, Amanda Hale and her husband, Mike, Heather Jones and her husband, Adam, Jacquie Melloway and her husband, David, Adrian Campbell and her husband, Glen, Jake E. Lee, Jesse Fudge, Brian Twenter and his wife, Samantha, Kathleen Twenter and Megan Barnes; and her nine great-grandchildren, Addyson, Reid, Cal, Madyson, Izabella, Jackson, Tracy, Hudson and Cooper.

Her parents died earlier. 

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1115 Locust St. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
