Kathryn Virginia Kirsch of Columbia died Tuesday, May 7, 2013

COLUMBIA — Kathryn Huey Kirsch of Columbia, known as Virginia to her friends and familly, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013. She was 86.

Mrs. Kirsch was born May 8, 1926, in Blodgett, to Harvey and Lillian (Brumley) Huey.

She was married to Grover Kirsch on May 15, 1949, in Fornfelt. They spent their first year of marriage in Chicago and then moved to Cahokia, Ill. A job transfer sent them to Cape Girardeau in 1965. The couple moved to Columbia upon retirement.

Her passion was family gatherings. Mrs. Kirsch delighted in hosting family visits and her home was full of good food and love, always welcome to all.

Mrs. Kirsch is survived by her husband, Grover Kirsch, two daughters, Deshay Rust and husband Stephen Rust of Columbia, and Michelle Red and husband Mike Red of Liberty Hill, Texas; two granddaughters, April Harkin and Delaney Red, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Her parents and sister Mary Lee Walker died earlier.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Midway Heights Baptist Church, 6801 W. Rollingwood Blvd. Services will be held at 11 a.m. after the visitation.
