More local athletes qualify for girls track and field state championships

COLUMBIA — Columbia Independent School's Nicole Neville and Davis Atkins have qualified for the 2013 MSHSAA Track and Field State Championships.

Neville, a senior, finished first in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes last week at the Class 1 Sectional 3 tournament. It will be her third trip to the state tournament.

Atkins, a freshman, finished fourth in the 800-meter run to qualify for her first trip to the state tournament.

The state tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
