Tolton golfer Jack Golden finishes 58th at state tournament

Wednesday, May 15, 2013 | 7:55 p.m. CDT

Tolton's only golfer to qualify for the state tournament, Jack Golden, finished with a second round 94 to finish tied for 58th in the Class 1 state tournament Tuesday.

Golden, who shot three strokes better during the first round Monday at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar dropped two places compared to his state appearance last year. Golden is Tolton's first, and so far only, golfer to qualify for the state tournament, although Connor McCarty, who transferred from Rock Bridge High School, is expected to contend for the individual title next year after being ineligible to participate in this year's tournament.

Tolton failed to qualify as a team, falling in sectionals last week. Barat (Chesterfield) Academy won the team title for Class 1.
