COLUMBIA — A woman who was driving south on U.S. 63 on Friday night lost control of her SUV and rolled over several times before the vehicle stopped on its top in the opposite lanes, police said.

Gretchen Pani, 41, was driving her 2000 Ford Expedition south on U.S. 63 approaching Prathersville Road, according to a news release from Columbia Police Department. The accident occurred at 9:06 p.m.

According to the report, Pani lost control of her vehicle and veered off toward the left side of the road, then overcorrected to the right and then to the left causing the SUV to overturn several times before it came to a stop on its top.

She was taken to University Hospital for a mild concussion and a broken hand, which are believed to not be life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

Pani was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
