Hofstra beat Missouri 10-0 in the NCAA Columbia Regional Final on Sunday, forcing a second game Sunday afternoon.

COLUMBIA – Missouri needed to win one game Sunday against Hofstra. But with No. 2 pitcher Nicole Hudson in the circle, Game 1 would not be that game for the Tigers.

Hofstra hammered Hudson in the second inning, scoring nine runs on seven hits and two Tiger errors. Becca Bigler and Caryn Bailey both hit home runs, including a deep fly ball by Bailey that landed on the golf course beyond University Field’s right field fence.

Coach Ehren Earleywine brought in Lindsey Muller in relief in the third inning. Muller stopped the scoring a little, allowing just one run on two hits in two innings of relief.

But it was too late.

Missouri (37-12) lost 10-0 in a five-inning run-rule game and the two teams will face each other again at 3 p.m. Sunday. The winner advances to the Super Regionals and the loser is done for the season.
