COLUMBIA — There were dancers and vendors at the Sixth Annual For the People Pow Wow at the Boone County Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Many tribes were represented, including the Lakota, Cherokee, Osage and Potawatomi. Some people, including Justin Stegeman, performed dances that are passed from generation to generation.

"I learned the Grass Dance 16 years ago," he said.

Esther Tuttle, from the Lakota Tribe, also participated in a dance, which she summarized as "energy."

"It keeps me connected, making me feel good because I get to represent where I come from," she said.
