MEXICO, Mo. — Officials have identified an employee who died in an accident at one of Home Depot's subsidiaries in central Missouri.

Birce Mesko, an assistant safety director in Mexico, Mo., says 30-year-old Kenny Baker of Auxvasse died Tuesday while trying to repair a loading dock plate at Home Decorators, a distribution center.

Mesko says the plate fell on Baker, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Mesko told KXEO that investigators are trying to determine whether safety mechanisms on the plate were used correctly or were functioning properly.

Home Depot officials said in a news release Tuesday that the company is cooperating with investigations into Baker's death.
