COLUMBIA — Grading, drainage and pavement work on a stretch of Interstate 70 near The Links apartments will cause temporary lane closures next week, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

From Monday to Wednesday, the eastbound passing lane of I-70 over Hominy Creek will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. On Thursday, the westbound passing lane will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Construction company Emery Sapp & Sons is taking on the $ 1.2 million project to improve the highway over Hominy Creek. The improvements will allow the extension the Hominy Creek Trail to the north side of I-70 as part of the GetAbout Columbia Program, according to the release.

Supervising editor is Katie Moritz.
