Buford 'Bud' Eugene Guyer, 89, fought at the Battle of the Bulge

COLUMBIA — Buford "Bud" Eugene Guyer died Friday, May 31, 2013. He was 89.

He was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Purdin, to Roy and Bessie Guyer.

Mr. Guyer served in the military during World War II and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. After his service, he graduated from MU with a master's degree in engineering.

After working for the U.S. Geological Survey in Rolla, Mr. Guyer returned to Columbia where he married his wife, Emily Guyer, and ran his business, Wolcott Water Systems.

Mr. Guyer is survived by his wife Emily, his four children, Jane Mahieu, Anne Orazio, Joy Jones and John Guyer; and seven grandchildren, Hayden Mahieu, Anthony and Nicholas Orazio, Hailey Jones and Jessica, Alex and Jacob Guyer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Penitent Episcopal Church, Chapel of Sts. Francis & Clare, 1004 N. College Ave., Columbia, MO 65201.

There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.
