COLUMBIA — A woman was in critical condition Sunday morning following a two-vehicle accident Saturday on Route O south of Route UU in Boone County.

Debra Lancaster, 58, of Columbia, was driving her Hyundai Elantra south on Route O at 1:58 p.m. As she crested a hill, she collided with a northbound 2001 Ford Mustang driven by 19-year-old Aaron E. Hentges, also of Columbia. Both vehicles were totaled, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s online traffic crash report.

Lancaster and Hentges were transported via ambulance to University Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said Hentges was treated and released. Both drivers were using their seatbelts.

The accident is still under investigation, said Trooper Brad Germann of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
