PERRYVILLE — Authorities in southeast Missouri say they're investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Perry County.

The Perry County Sheriff's Department said Friday that a man and woman were discovered shot at a residence. A person found the couple shortly Friday afternoon and contacted the sheriff's department.

The Southeast Missourian reports that Sheriff Gary Schaaf said the deaths appear to be the result of a murder-suicide, but that an investigation is underway. He said the man and woman appear to have died from single gunshot wounds, and that a weapon was located at the scene.

The names of the couple were not released.
