Woman reports forcible rape at Cosmopolitan Park

COLUMBIA —A woman reported she was forcibly raped early Friday morning at Cosmopolitan Park, 1615 Business Loop 70 W.

Officers responded at 2:12 a.m. Friday, but the suspect had been scared off by voices approaching and left in a pickup truck, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. The woman, 41, did not have serious physical injuries.

The release described the suspect as a black man in his 30s, 5-feet-6-inches tall, with a slim build and medium complexion. He was driving a grey, full size, extended cab, lifted pickup. The make and model is unknown.

If residents have any information about the assault, they should contact the Columbia Police Department non-emergency number, 442-6131, or Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
