COLUMBIA — A person called and reported to police that shots were fired Friday afternoon at Lakewood Apartments.

Officers responded at about 5 p.m. to the apartments at 206 Old Highway 63 N., according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. The caller said that three to four shots were fired and a person was possibly shot in the leg.

The caller also reported that the people involved drove away. When officers arrived, they did not find anyone who was involved with the shooting or a victim. However, they did find evidence of a disturbance.

Officers are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information should call the Columbia Police Department, 442-6131, or Crime Stoppers, 875-TIPS, to remain anonymous.
