Eliot Battle service set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Columbia church

COLUMBIA — A funeral for Columbia educator Eliot Battle will start 11 a.m. Saturday at Missouri United Methodist Church, 209 S. Ninth St.

A reception in the multipurpose room of the church's Christian Life Center will follow.

Free parking for the general public will be available in Hitt Street Garage in addition to metered parking in the Tenth and Cherry Street Garage. A golf cart shuttle will be available before and after the service and reception to and from these garages. Parking in the church lot is reserved for the family, elderly and disabled. 

The church has bench seating for 700 to 800 people and overflow seating will be provided in the basement of the sanctuary with live video of the service, Teressa Gilbreth, the church's director of communications, said.

Cards and condolences may be sent to the attention of the Battle Family at 2200 W. Rollins Road, 65203.
