COLUMBIA — Clyde R. Theroff of Columbia died Saturday, June 29, 2013, in Columbia. He was 70.
Mr. Theroff was born Aug. 12, 1942, in Russellville to Herbert and Nelda (Loesch) Theroff.
He married Janice Renken in Kansas City on June 23, 1962.
Mr. Theroff grew up on the family farm near Lohman and attended high school in Russellville where he excelled in basketball, baseball and student government.
Mr. Theroff was a salesman for more than 40 years, managing several Biederman's Furniture stores. He won numerous sales award from General Telephone Directory Company, including being a member of its Hall of Fame.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Mr. Theroff was dedicated to his family. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to do their best and enjoyed sharing their accomplishments with his friends.
He loved playing sports with his wife and children, coaching many of their sports teams and attending school activities. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his friends and hitting balls at the driving range.
Mr. Theroff is survived by his wife, Janice Theroff; two daughters, Angela Clarke and her husband, Tom, of Harrisonville, and Ellen Theroff of St. Charles; his son, Cary Clyde Theroff, of Columbia; four granddaughters, Chelsea and Sara Clarke of Harrisonville and Celeste and Madison Theroff of Columbia; two grandsons, Andrew Clarke of Harrisonville and Cary Clyde Theroff Jr. of Columbia; two brothers, Marvin Theroff and his wife, Annita, of Oak Grove, and Larry Theroff and his wife, Sandy, of Jefferson City; three sisters-in-law, Frances Engelbrecht of Eugene, Deloyce Barry of California, Mo., and Elaine Morris of Brazito; two brothers-in-law, Gayle Renken and his wife, Janet, of Centertown, and Keith Renken and his wife, Jill, of Russellville; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Four brothers-in-law, Harold Barry, Curtis Engelbrecht, Donald Renken and Daniel Morris; and a sister-in-law, Lila Renken, died earlier.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. July 20, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
