Virgil White of Columbia, Feb. 11, 1919 — July 1, 2013

COLUMBIA — Virgil “Cotton” White, 94, of Columbia, MO, passed away July 1, 2013.

He was born February 11, 1919, in Ashland, MO, to the late Floyd and Cleo (Crump) White.

On September 30, 1939, he married his wife of 73 years, Pauline Pace, and she survives.

Cotton was a World War II veteran, serving in France and the Philippines. He was an avid MU basketball fan and enjoyed fishing at the family cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. Cotton was a longtime member of the Masons and the Foreign Legion.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In addition to his loving wife, Cotton is survived by sons: Richard White and his wife, Dee, of Columbia, MO and Stan White and his wife, Leeann, of Moberly, MO; siblings: Erma Crane of Columbia, Frank White and his wife, Pam, of Ashland, MO, and Dale White and his wife, Darlene, of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Rich White and his wife, Taren, of Columbia, Tom White of Boonville, MO, Susan Crescini and her husband, Anthony, of Allen, TX, Clinton White and his wife, Sarah, of Rolla, MO, and Mary Van Cleve and her husband, Ross, of Moberly, MO; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Cotton was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Lee White and Wallace White, sister, Irene Jaeger, and his parents.
