Sarah 'Juanita' Kidwell, 77, volunteered at the Veterans Hospital

COLUMBIA — Sarah “Juanita” Kidwell died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Columbia. She was 77.

She was born July 22, 1935, in Columbia to William Henry and Mary Craig Fite.

She was a graduate of Hickman High School.

She married Donald "Duke" Kidwell on Aug. 28, 1959.

Mrs. Kidwell retired after 30 years of employment with Atkins, where she worked as a secretary. She also was awarded a certificate of appreciation for her 20 years of volunteerism with the Veterans Hospital.

Mrs. Kidwell enjoyed going to garage sales, playing cards and drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes with friends.

Mrs. Kidwell is survived by one daughter, Brenda Kidwell; one granddaughter, Andi Baker Glidewell and her husband, Nick; one great-grandson, Maddox Glidewell; her best friend Tom Atkins; and numerous other family members and friends.

Her husband, Donald; three sisters, Joan Kennedy, Betty Lou Baker and Dottie Sue Fite; and a brother, Dickie Ray Fite, died earlier.

Visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
