COLUMBIA — Missourian photographers were out in Columbia capturing images of Fourth of July preparations and events. They also photographed children participating in a swim meet and theater workshop.

Megan Donohue captured this image of Ronnie Flatt's winter wheat crop. In Missouri, there was an almost 40 percent increase of winter wheat fields this year over last year. The harvest took place later than normal because of wet weather, which may jeopardize the soybean crop.

At the Central Missouri Humane Society adoption event, Megan Donohue took this picture of two boxer pointer mix sisters. Lucille, left, and Barbie, look at people from their pen June 30.

In this photograph by Unho Yi, Chester and Vonda Edwards spend time together watching television and reading a book on June 23. The Edwards have been married for 51 years.

Unho Yi captured the moment when Jaclyn Sexauer, 10, adjusted her swimming goggles before her leg of a medley race Saturday at the Missouri Athletic Center as part of the Show Me Swim Conference Championship.

In this photograph by Sini Stephan, Lena Agans has a group hug with children participating in the Theater Reaching Young People and Schools Children's Theater workshop at the Columbia Public Library. The workshops are held once a month at the library.

Sini Stephan took this picture of Jim Evans, bartender at Tropical Liqueurs, who wore his friend's sunglasses on the Fourth of July.

In this photograph by Quint Smith, Aaron Baker, left, asks for loud fireworks from Bob's Fireworks employee John Ward on Tuesday. A Columbia ordinance bans the possession and use of fireworks within city limits.

Quint Smith captured this image of fireworks at the 61st Annual Fourth of July Fire in Sky event.
