Gunshots fired into home in northern Columbia

Tuesday, July 9, 2013 | 2:52 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — A resident of the Clearview Subdivision in northern Columbia reported hearing gunshots early Tuesday morning.

Boone County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to the call at about 4 a.m. and were unable to find any evidence of a shooting because of a lack of lighting and no specific address for the incident.

At 7 a.m., another resident found what appeared to be gunshots at the front of their home in the 5500 block of North Rocky Fork Drive, off of Brown School Road. When police responded, they found eight empty shell casings near the house.

No injuries were reported.

The police searched the neighborhood and were following up on tips they received. There were no suspects as of Tuesday afternoon.

Those with information about the incident should call Crime Stoppers at 875-8477 or go to 875tips.com.
