Thursday, July 11, 2013 | 8:55 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA —  Columbia's Blue Thunder Track Club AAU Team Championships are set to take place Saturday at Rock Bridge High School.

More than 300 athletes between the ages of 7 and 18 from more than 15 teams from Missouri, Illinois and Minnesota are expected to compete.

The meet will serve as a tune-up for the AAU Junior Olympics set to take place July 24 in Detroit. The Blue Thunder advanced 53 of their athletes to the national meet at a national qualifier in June in Joplin.
