Former Missouri basketball player Kim English was released by the Detroit Pistons on Thursday, according to a report posted on the website of the Detroit Free Press.
The move comes immediately after the Pistons announced they had agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with five-time All-Star Chauncey Billups.
English, who was chosen by Detroit in the second round of the 2012 NBA draft, averaged 2.9 points and 9.9 minutes in 41 games for the Pistons last season.
English said in a tweet Thursday evening he appreciated his time in Detroit.
"Thanks Detroit.. Amazing fans, amazing town and an amazing learning experience in year one," English tweeted. "Excited to see where my next stop will be."
