COLUMBIA — Columbia native Justin Lacy was one of 38 new troopers the Missouri State Highway Patrol commissioned Friday. He will be assigned to Troop C in St. Charles County.
The recruits graduated after 26 weeks of training in the highway patrol's law enforcement academy, according to a news release. Forty-four people initially joined the 96th Recruit Class of the Academy on January 16, according to a previous release in February.
The graduation ceremony took place at 9 a.m. Friday on the south lawn of the Missouri Capitol. Gov. Jay Nixon attended the ceremony to address the class.
Calls to the Highway Patrol for more information were not immediately returned Friday.
The new troopers will report for duty July 28.
