Ann White taught music, participated in her church

COLUMBIA — Ann Millicent White of Columbia died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at University Hospital. She was 75.

Mrs. White was born June 10, 1938, in Chicago to Thomas Engenes Wideroe and Zula Zeigler Wideroe.

She attended the Eastman School of Music from 1955 to 1956. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from the University of Illinois—Urbana-Champaign in 1959.

Mrs. White lived in Missouri, Illinois and Ohio, where she taught music in public schools, before moving to Columbia in 1971 to attend MU. She received a Master’s degree in music education in 1973.

In that same year, she married Arnold Allen White. She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Columbia and the Columbia-Boone County League of Women Voters.

Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Ann Stanley, of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Carla Stanley; and granddaughters, Julia Ann and Samariah Stanley.

Mrs. White's parents and son, Philip Michael Stanley, died earlier. Her husband, Arnold Allen White, died earlier on May 13, 2004.

A memorial service will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2615 Shepard Blvd.
