Dale March, 86, was longtime builder in Columbia

COLUMBIA — Dale March of Columbia died Monday, July 15, 2013, at his home. He was 86.

Mr. March was born on July 16, 1926, in Macon to Raymond and Edna March. He married Polly Porter on March 14, 1946.

He was a veteran of World War II and a homebuilder and land developer in Columbia, spending many years of his career building MFA bulk fertilizer plants. 

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening and working on his woodcraft business. He was a founding member of the Columbia Sportsman Club and a member of the VFW. He and and his wife attended Rocky Fork Church in Hallsville.

Mr. March is survived by his wife, Polly; two daughters, Becky Reeves and her husband, Randy, of Houston, and Sue Brown of Kansas City; two sons, Steve March and wife, Jackie, and Jim March and wife, Debbie, of Hallsville; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother and three sisters.

His parents, two brothers and a son, Raymond Gale March, died earlier.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the same location. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Advantage, 1504 E. Broadway, Columbia, MO, 65201.
