ST. LOUIS (AP) — A longtime Missouri appeals court judge is resigning.
Judge Kathianne Knaup Crane plans to retire Aug. 15 from the eastern district Missouri Court of Appeals.
She originally was appointed to the post in July 1990 and is serving a term that runs through 2016. She was still more than two years away from Missouri's mandatory retirement age of 70.
Before being appointed as a judge, Crane was an assistant U.S. attorney and previously worked as an attorney in private practice in St. Louis.
The Appellate Judicial Commission is taking applications for a replacement. The commission plans to meet Sept. 26-27 to interview applicants and forward three nominees to the governor to consider for an appointment.f
