Each week, the Missourian highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives. For a complete list of Show Me the Records, go to columbiamissourian.com/records.
The records: The Missouri Accountability Portal provides a list of how much state employees are paid in every pay cycle.
Why you'd want them: Taxpayers can find out where their money is going and how much money public employees make.
Where you get the records: Go to mapyourtaxes.mo.gov/MAP/Employees and click "Search by agency," "Search by employee name" or "Search by position title."
How much will it cost: The information is free.
