COLUMBIA — Roads near Battle High School that have been under construction since April have been opened for use.
The $2.3 million project included replacement of the Route Z overpass over Interstate 70, a roundabout at Route Z and St. Charles Road and widening of road shoulders by three feet on each side of Route Z between St. Charles Road and the overpass.
Charles Sullivan, resident engineer with the Missouri Department of Transportation, said that Route Z, St. Charles Road and the overpass opened by the Aug. 5 deadline.
Construction on the Route Z overpass and widening of the Route Z shoulders are completed, Sullivan said. Most of the roundabout has been finished, but some work still needs to be done.
As of Wednesday, workers still need to place a layer of asphalt, build one or two streetlights and complete grading on the sides of the road, he said.
All work will be completed by the final Aug. 17 deadline, Sullivan said.
