BATTLE RISING: Competition cheerleaders work toward state competition

Battle High School's competition cheerleading squad practices stunts and routines Tuesday. The Battle squad won first place at regionals last month, earning it a spot in the state competition Sept. 15. It will be at the Hearnes Center.

COLUMBIA — Coach Corey Cathey demonstrated moves  to the competition Battle High School's cheerleading squad Tuesday.

Cathey is a speech pathologist and is the new high school's spirit squad coordinator. The squad won first place at regionals last month and will move onto the state competition which will be held Sept. 15 at the Hearnes Center.
