Columbia police arrest burglary suspect

COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested and charged Tuesday in connection with the burglary that occurred Saturday at a home in the 5600 block of Majestic Circle, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Zachary M. Smith was seen in the area of the 4900 block of Thornbrook Ridge by an off-duty law enforcement officer at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the release.

The suspect admitted to the burglary and had property from the burglary in his possession at the time of the arrest, according to the release.

Smith was arrested on charges of first degree burglary with bond still to be determined, according to the release.
