Police arrest suspects in connection with July 23 burglary

COLUMBIA — Police arrested two men in connection with a July 23 burglary, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Officers arrested Damon Lamont Harris, 21, and Martinez Demetrius Jackson, 18, on Tuesday afternoon on multiple criminal charges following a July burglary at the 3200 block of Martha Drive, according to the release.

In addition to Harris and Jackson, police also arrested Ladame Smith, 19, on Sunday in connection with the same break-in, according to the release. 

Harris’ bond was set at $9,500 for charges of second-degree burglary, felony stealing and second-degree property damage.

Jackson’s bond was set at $16,216.50 for charges of second-degree burglary, felony stealing, resisting arrest, police officer assault, second-degree property damage, and four “failure to appear” warrants, according to the release. 

Police are still investigating the case and more arrests are possible, according to the release.
