COLUMBIA — A Camdenton motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of a Thursday afternoon crash in Camden County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Gerald E. Roberts, 42, the driver of a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle, was traveling southbound on Old South Route 5, about a half mile south of Highway 7. Roberts struck the side of a tow unit attached to a tractor trailer that was turning left out of a private drive, according to the report.

This was the fourth fatality in Troop F for August. There have been 20 other fatalities in the troop this year.

Supervising editor is Hannah Wiese.
