Barbara H. Roberts, June 18, 1933 — Aug. 25, 2013

Barbara H. Roberts, 80, of Columbia, MO, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013, at her home. Barbara was born June 18, 1933, in Rocheport, MO, to William Angel Hunt and Mary Nance Mahan-Hunt. She was married to Charles “Buckey” Roberts Sr. on April 2, 1955, in Columbia, MO.

Anyone who knew Barbara knew what she stood for: family, friends, and baby dolls. She operated a daycare for over 3 decades and cared for 325 kids over the years. She started with grandchildren and grew. “Sharing is Caring” was her favorite motto.

She is survived by her husband, Charles “Buckey” Roberts Sr., of Columbia; one son, Charles Edward (Katherine) Roberts Jr., of Harrisburg; two siblings, Thomas (Debbie) Hunt, of Rocheport, and Jane (George) Tutt, of Columbia; six grandchildren, Stacy (Justin) Rapp, of Boonville, John (Ivy) Roberts Jr., of Rocheport, Stephanie (Bryan) Murphy, of Williamsburg, Ashley Roberts, of Columbia, Courtney (Jon) Roberts-Wright, of Columbia, and Christopher Roberts, of Harrisburg; eight great-grandchildren and two more on the way; as well as her longtime friend and caretaker, Ayla Stephens, of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, son, John Fred Roberts Sr., one brother, and six sisters.

The graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on August 27, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital.
