Autopsy indicates southwest Missouri girl was strangled

Sunday, August 25, 2013 | 7:19 p.m. CDT

GOLDEN CITY — A probable cause statement says a man accused of killing a 12-year-old southwest Missouri girl led authorities to her body, but he claimed she died from a fall.

KYTV-TV reported that the autopsy indicates the girl was strangled. Barton County Prosecuting Attorney Steven Kaderly cqreleased the probable cause statement Sunday, a day before Bobby Bourne, Jr. is to be arraigned.

Investigators say in the probable cause statement that Bourne claims Adriaunna Horton ran away from him, fell down and died as a result of falling. It says Bourne led investigators to a wooded area southeast of Golden City, where the girl's body was found.

The statement also says there is evidence the girl was sexually assaulted.
