City offices will be closed on Labor Day

Tuesday, August 27, 2013 | 3:38 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — This weekend will be a day longer for city workers. City offices will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.

A variety of city services will be shut down that day: City buses will not operate, garbage will not be collected, and parking meters will not be enforced. The administrative offices for city police and fire departments will be closed, but emergency services will still be available.

Residential refuse and curbside recycling collection will be pushed to the following day. Residents who have questions can contact the Department of Public Works Solid Waste Division at 573-874-6291.

The regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be held Sept. 3.

Supervising editor is Stephanie Ebbs.
