Michael Porter, formerly director of operations of Missouri's basketball program, will move into an assistant coach's role for the Missouri women's basketball team, coach Robin Pingeton announced Wednesday.

"Michael has had a tremendous impact on our program the last three years," Pingeton said in a news release. "He brings vast experience and creative insight to our program as well as a wealth of knowledge both on the court and off."

Porter's former responsibilities included managing video editing, creating several publications and serving as the color analyst on women's basketball radio broadcasts. As assistant coach, Porter will help run the Tigers' practices and have a particular focus on working with the team's guards.

Porter will fill the position left by Randy Norton, who became head coach at Alabama-Birmingham after last season.
