Hickman starts with a win

BOONVILLE — The Hickman softball team pounded out 19 hits in a 14-1 win against Boonville in five innings on Wednesday. Hickman pitcher Shannon Greene earned the win with 14 strikeouts and two walks.

Hickman opened up a lead with an eight-run second inning that gave the team a 9-0 lead after two innings. Hickman added three runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning before Boonville got on the board with a run in the fifth inning.

Molly Carter had two home runs, and Allie Dishinger had one home run for Hickman.

"I thought our kids played really well," said Hickman coach Courtney Haskell. "It was a good opener for us."
