Old Route K will be closed between the entrances to the MU Recreation Trail and the Providence Hill Apartments during every home football game. Both driveways will be accessible. Blockades will go up three hours before kickoff and will remain through the duration of the football game.

COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department will close a portion of Old Route K during Missouri home football games this fall, according to a police department news release.

Beginning three hours prior to kickoff and lasting through the game, Old Route K at the West Outer Road of Providence will close from just south of the bridge near the drive to the Mizzou Tennis Complex to the north drive of Providence Hill Apartments.

The closure is necessary to prevent illegal parking on the narrow, two-lane road, according to the release.

"When vehicles park illegally on this road, it changes the road from two lanes to one lane, making it difficult for emergency vehicles to get through the area," the release said.
